Kabaddi Champions League Haryana Launched in Sonipat to Boost Grassroots Talent

Sonipat, Haryana, Haryana, the land of kabaddi legends, witnessed the official launch of the Kabaddi Champions League Haryana (KCL) at a grand ceremony in Sonipat on Monday.The initiative aims to provide a professional platform for grassroots talent from the state and showcase Haryana’s kabaddi culture on a larger stage.

The launch was attended by Krishna Lal Panwar, Cabinet Minister of Haryana, along with top officials from the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI), the Amateur Kabaddi Association of Haryana (AKAH), the Haryana Olympic Association (HOA), and spiritual leader Shri 1008 Shri Mahant Bhalegiri Maharaj Ji.

Recognized by the AKAH, the league has been designed to nurture village-level players and aligns with the state’s “Drug-Free Haryana” campaign, promoting fitness and discipline among the youth.

The first edition of the KCL will be held in December 2025 in Sonipat, featuring eight teams battling across 31 matches in 16 days. Guided by Dronacharya Awardee Balwan Singh, the league has roped in kabaddi icons Rajesh Narwal and Mohit Chillar as brand ambassadors.

Speaking at the launch,Krishna Lal Panwar said, “Kabaddi is not just a sport but an integral part of Haryana’s cultural identity. This league will provide youngsters with the platform to grow professionally while keeping them away from destructive influences like drugs.”

Brand Ambassador Rajesh Narwal expressed pride in supporting the league, calling it “a golden opportunity for rural players to make their families and villages proud.” Fellow ambassador Mohit Chillar added that KCL would “inspire thousands to take kabaddi as a serious career.”

The Kabaddi Champions League Haryana is expected to become one of the state’s most-awaited sporting events, celebrating the raw energy of village akhadas while giving Haryana’s next generation of kabaddi stars a professional pathway to glory.
